What is dry eye?
Dry eye is a vision problem caused by inadequate tear secretion.
The factors that most frequently lead to dry eye are: old age, post-menopausal women, rheumatoid arthritis and the use of certain medications, especially beta blockers and some antidepressants.
Symptoms
The most common symptoms of decreased tear production or dry eye are itching, a feeling of something in the eye or of dryness, tired eyes, high sensitivity to irritation and mucus secretion.
